Monday January 30, 2023 - GolfTec Swing Analysis

First time ever at GolfTec and it was so much better than I expected.   Our guy Trey really knows his stuff and he could describe the swing style of any PGA Tour pro out there.   He identified two key areas of imrovement - the shoulder tilt (not enough) and the hip sway (not enough).   After about 45 minutes, Trevor got those areas up where he needed and inreased his distance dramatically.   It was tricky to really connect after making those changes, but when he did, he hit his 7 iron 175 yards.   Insane.

Sunday January 22, 2023 - US Kids Tournament

What a rebound!   After a brutal showing two weeks ago at the Biltmore, the kid birdied 3 of his first 6 holes and went on to finish 6th with an 81.   This was despite a double and a triple on the back nine. The score was excellent despite some serious misses: Horrible drive on 1 - missed left, almost OB Horrible tee shot on 14 - missed way left, almost needed penalty stroke as ball near fence Horrible drive on 15 - major slice almost in water, 175 yards max Horrible tee shot on 17 (bunker way right), half assed sand shot, brutal 4 putt Horrible drive on 18 - barely cleared the water There's still lots to work on but this was a huge mental victory.

Sunday January 15, 2023 - X3 Tournament

The rain held off just long enough for the boy to capture his sixth straight X3 tournament.   Ahwautukee Lakes Golf Course is about as bad as we expected.   Needing a court order to be restored a couple of years ago, the greens were incredibly bumpy and each of the boys in the group missed three footers.

Sunday January 8, 2023 - US Kids Tournament

So this was the first US Kids tournament of the year and only the second one Trevor has ever played in.   After five straight tournament wins on the X3 Tour, this was a huge dose of reality as the boy struggled to a round of 96.   No lost balls, just one penalty stroke, but horrible putting, less than average chipping, and lousy approach shots.    MAJOR mistake:  No lunch, no snacks in the bag = completely out of gas on the back nine. Something good to take out of this was on the 471 yard par 4, yes par 4 , he had a 274 yard drive (longest ever) and a 200 yard 5 wood to get on the green in regulation. It's all good.   This round will be the absolute floor for the rest of his golf life.   He knows what he needs to work on and he'll build off of this.

Saturday January 7, 2023 - Firebirds Tournament

Well it was a bit of a lackluster performance after starting +5 after 4 holes.   Luckily, the boy finished with 5 straight pars to close out the round but it was only good for T5.

Sunday January 1, 2023 - Quarterly Check In

Well we started going to the gym right after Thanksgiving and slowly ramped things up as we approached the new year.   Here are essentially the starting statistics or maximum weight for 12 reps:
