Sunday January 8, 2023 - US Kids Tournament

So this was the first US Kids tournament of the year and only the second one Trevor has ever played in.   After five straight tournament wins on the X3 Tour, this was a huge dose of reality as the boy struggled to a round of 96.   No lost balls, just one penalty stroke, but horrible putting, less than average chipping, and lousy approach shots.

MAJOR mistake:  No lunch, no snacks in the bag = completely out of gas on the back nine.

Something good to take out of this was on the 471 yard par 4, yes par 4, he had a 274 yard drive (longest ever) and a 200 yard 5 wood to get on the green in regulation.

It's all good.   This round will be the absolute floor for the rest of his golf life.   He knows what he needs to work on and he'll build off of this.

Met Jim Furyk at the Pro Am during the Candian Open.   We wore our Wildcats shirts and he came over to talk to us.   Very exciting for both of us.

Thursday February 15, 2024

Well, practicing for just 45 minutes each morning just wasn't cutting it as the boy has struggled mightily with his game, firing in the high 80's his last few tournaments.   We did some schedule rearranging and asked the GM at Raven if there was anything Trevor could do in exchange for playing a few holes in the afternoon.   We met with Kevin Weber and the head golf instructor, Barry Hand and Trevor's new responsibilities are: Calibrating the yardage board each morning on the range to the correct distances to each hole Clearing off all of the range balls on the first hole Fixing as many ball marks on every green he plays What an amazing setup we have here.     Here he is hitting errant range balls from the #1 fairway back onto the range

Saturday November 12, 2022 - Firebirds Tournament

Palo Verde Golf Course Playing in just his second ever Firebirds tournament, Trevor a great four hole stretch with three birdies, but finished double bogey/bogey to wind up +2.   Cat Dann won it all with a -1.   Cat's father and I talked for quite awhile after the tournament while the boys practiced.   He's quite a character.   I have a feeling that the boys will become fast friends...
