Sunday January 22, 2023 - US Kids Tournament

What a rebound!   After a brutal showing two weeks ago at the Biltmore, the kid birdied 3 of his first 6 holes and went on to finish 6th with an 81.   This was despite a double and a triple on the back nine.

The score was excellent despite some serious misses:
Horrible drive on 1 - missed left, almost OB
Horrible tee shot on 14 - missed way left, almost needed penalty stroke as ball near fence
Horrible drive on 15 - major slice almost in water, 175 yards max
Horrible tee shot on 17 (bunker way right), half assed sand shot, brutal 4 putt
Horrible drive on 18 - barely cleared the water

There's still lots to work on but this was a huge mental victory.

The boy and I had an absolute blast with Cliff and his buddy Normy.   Normy looks very much like Jim Furyk.   I LOVED this course - lots of elevation changes in a gorgeous setting.   The kid shot an 81 and notched his 10th birdie of the year when he drove the green on the short par four 9th hole and two putted from the first cut.   His reward was a ride in Uncle Cliff's Ferrari back to his place where we hung out for a couple of hours before our flight home.

Well after a completely revamped practice schedule, the kid put together his most complete round ever in tournament play and shot a 75 at Leisure World.

Trevor played The Shoals - Fighting Joe course with Bill Beumer, the head golf coach at Grissom High School in Huntsville.   The state championship is being played at this course so he wanted to get familiar with it.   Trevor got off to a rocky start but birdied back to back holes to finish the front nine and cruised to an 82 on yet another great course.
