The kid won his second tournament of the year today over kids from Cicero and Fountain Hills.   He actually tied for first with one other kid from Cicero as they both shot 39, three stokes over par.

Golfed with Coach Kyle and Uncle Kipp at McDowell Mountain today.   Unfortunately, they were prepping for overseeding so it was very dry but it was still fun to get out together.   As expected, Kyle and Kipp got along very well.   The kid shot an 80 from the forward tees.

The kid came in third today at Ken McDonald after a fairly poor round.   Was 8 over after five holes but then settled down and finished par-birdie-par-par to finish +7.

First X3 Tournament of the year.

So we returned to the Grand Shithole on Tuesday to play BASIS Phoenix and Lincoln Prep.   It was 108 degrees and a bit windy and Trevor was +6 after six holes, with only one par.   He finally got it together on #7 with a par as the team battled with darkness.   Another par on #8 and he was running to the final tee box, a 355 yard par 5 (yes, par 5).   He drilled his tee shot about 275 yards, aided by a rock hard fairway.  We finally found the ball and I had to run and stand behind the pin so he could see it.   I couldn't see the ball in the air but I heard it land and watched it track perfectly as it broke a couple of feet right to the hole, coming to rest about six inches away.   The tap in eagle gave him the win!

This is one of the worst golf courses ever but we had to practice for the boy's tournament there on Tuesday.   I beat the kid 1UP in match play and by 1 in stroke play.

First BASIS team tournament today.   There were about 25 or 30 kids there, boys and girls.   He started off with a double bogey but settled down and parred five of the next seven, and then chipped in on #9 for birdie.   Finished with a (+4) 37, good enough for a T2, just two strokes behind the winner.

Monday September 6, 2021: Tucson, AZ

Everything about today was just about perfect.   Got paired up with Tim (from Scottsdale) and his son Mike (an eye doctor who shot a 67) and had members of the U of A women's golf team behind us.   Trevor shot a 76 from the front tees (+4), his best round ever.
